Marla.
Hey, my name is Marla and I was born in Torzhok, a small town in Russia. I started my career in music and graduated from Tver College of Culture, but quickly got absorbed by tattoo art. I asked for my apprenticeship after getting my first tattoo and that’s where my tattoo journey began.
I practiced a lot and after a year of apprenticing I was ready to start tattooing on my own. I took Vlad Blad’s machine building course to learn more about building coil machines and built a fine liner for myself there. I attended tattoo conventions in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Helsinki to learn more about techniques there too.
After that, I opened my private studio in Tver City, Russia which I ran for 5 years. Soon after, my husband and I moved to the United States. I worked in California for a few years and then moved to the PNW in 2020.
I find this area perfect for inspiration and growing as an artist, because my favorite subjects to tattoo are floral and botanical themes, everything about nature and ornamental art.
